物語 | Our Story

How it all started:

We raise America’s finest 100% Full Blood Wagyu by fostering low‑stress environments, employing exemplary cattle‑handling methods, and finishing our herds on the highest‑quality, locally sourced feeds. What began in Texas in 2017 as Carpenter Cattle Company has matured from a modest, lifelong aspiration into the distinguished operation known today as 22 WAGYU.

The Carpenter Cattle “3C” legacy became “22” in 2023: Colby’s lucky number, his grandfather’s LSU jersey number, and the year he and Ashley were married (2022). The number also honors Teton County, where our Wagyu are born and raised, and where Jackson Hole’s mountain vistas echo the snowy ranges of Japan — the ancestral home where Wagyu have flourished for centuries.

If the number 22 carries personal significance for you, we invite you to share your story and connection with us at 22 WAGYU.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.
— Colossians 3:23

Philosophy

We continually refine our genetics to achieve not only exceptional marbling, but also a well-mannered, well-rounded animal. Our sires contribute long-bodied structure, rapid growth and calm dispositions. Our dams are developing into tall, large-framed Wagyu with gentle temperaments, above-average milking ability and unsurpassed maternal instincts. At 22 Wagyu we prioritize docility, workability and a correct overall phenotype—because superior genetics mean little if the animals are wild, aggressive or unsafe to handle.

As ranchers, we steward the land and the resources entrusted to us. That responsibility guides everything we do. For those who value local food and want to know the source of their beef, 22 Wagyu stands as a premier example. Our 100% authentic Japanese Wagyu cows, bulls and steers are raised with exemplary husbandry, feed and handling practices. We are proud to advance world-class Wagyu genetics and to produce outstanding beef while upholding strong ethics and the proper phenotype.
